Very impressed with the film Geoff. Of course having ‘The Daddy’ taking the lead role helps.
I’ve been a doorman myself for about 11 years here in Dundee (Scumdee as people in other Scottish cities call it
), primarily after reading your book when it first came out (in paperback no less). Met you at the seminar you did in Edinburgh years ago with Peter, and subsiquently at Guro Inosanto seminar’s that Rick Young hosted.
Been training MA’s about 15 years now, MMA for the last 8ish.
Your film sums up doorwork to me very well. I’ve come to the conclusion that its a fucking thankless task (sorry about the language but I’ve had a drink). No-one appreciates it. Not the bar managers, not the Police, the local license board, or the customers, or even the company you work for (we’re very disposabil). The customers think you’re a thug and a wanker, and give you shit for the slightest reason, unaware that they’re having a drink with their friends/partner in safety cause you’ve been fighting real baddies at the front door.
Can’t wait to get a real job, but I’ve said that before
. As you know, like Micheal Corleone “I thought I was out, but they dragged me back in”. Ha Ha.
Anyway, hope all is well with you mate (hope you don’t mind the term, but I feel I know you) . Keep up the good work.
Craig
Brilliant film, i would love to see a hollywood production as a full film. the movie is raw, and describeing our thankless work. It shows how raw one night can turn out, for the next night to be how calm as everto the next night to be the thoughtest in your life.
We need to watch each others backs, grate film.
FighterCraig, I see your comment and agree however there is one inalienable fact of life, and that is if you hang round with shit, your bound to get some of it on you.
Just the way it goes I’m afraid.
If your job involves a lot of shit, better to get out before you get too much on you mate…especially for the sake of your own health and well being.
I know Dundee well; it’s just like most places in Britain where for many the idea of respect and integrity have died.
Life is short and we come this way but once…don’t settle for it!
